Fatherless Father. Storyteller. Poet.
Albukirky is a fatherless father and storyteller. He uses spoken word poetry to sift through ideas of fatherhood, identity, and self-image alongside folks with Dad trauma, those uncomfortable in their own bodies, and those who feel like outsiders.
Before finding poetry, he dabbled with stand up comedy and theatre, and his tech job led him to speaking in front of crowds as large as 1500—but never about what matters most.
He was driven to start writing and performing poetry in order to reconnect with his roots as a storyteller. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, he currently hails from Kansas City where he's a perpetual 3rd place finisher at Poetic Underground’s Poetry Slams—however, he did win a Slam at the Ellery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Turns out, he just needed to leave town to win one.
